WI supporting Hugh’s “war on waste” (#wastenot) – Ditch the disposable coffee cups!

One of the areas he concentrated on was the disposable coffee cups which may of us believe are recyclable, but in fact whilst they may be recyclable in principle in practice they are not being, due to the cost being too high.

This is an area we can help with immediately, either by drinking in or by buying and using a re-usable mug (often coffee shops offer a discount for this).

Reducing packaging waste is an issue dear to WI members hearts, in fact WI members have been working to cut excess packaging since 2005 when a resolution on care of the environment was adopted at the Annual Meeting.

In 2006 over 100 WIs took part in a national action day to return excess packaging to supermarkets.
