Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

I finished this book and wiped away a tear. Tear of Joy? Not really; tear of happiness? Not that either, just a well of emotion invoked by this powerful love story. The relationship is a homosexual one which may make some readers feel uncomfortable

If you abhor violence this may not be for you but if you appreciate the way the Ancient Greeks lived, struggling for power in the only way they knew, with a spear, you will enjoy it.

Forget any expected outcomes or story lines, for Achilles’ heel does not feature, nor the Trojan horse.

This book is full of characters that are well drawn and believable even though many are not mortal. It also has superb descriptions that invoke the senses, and paint every scene vividly.

I would give it four stars. 4 Stars (4 / 5)
